I need to wireless-enable my PC. Point 1 is, [livejournal.com profile] stsquad, am I looking for "Wireless Networking" or "Bluetooth"? Point 2, [livejournal.com profile] mrssshhh, is CCL where you work? I'm remembering your warnings about hunting me down for murder should I use eBuyer, so I don't want to inadvertently offend you by shopping from the wrong place.

I suspect you want wlan - bluetooth is still not all it is cracked up to be and if [livejournal.com profile] stsquad is using it I will be shocked :P

I do actually have bluetooth on my mobile and my iPAQ so at somepoint I'll be getting a USB bluetooth dongle so they can talk to my PC. However I need to get linux on my iPAQ first so I don't feel dirty everytime I start it up.

The magic numbers are 802.11b (11Mbs) and 802.11g (54Mbs). You don't need bluetooth, thats for phones and wireless headsets and the like...

Yes that will work, but only at the slower 802.11b speed. Still its faster than the actual broadband link so I doubt you'll notice ;-)

Aria is my usual source of computer stuff.

Scan are the Townie scum of computer resellers. The fact that they also sell car stereo equipment and deliberately appeal to the lowest common denominator should be proof of that.
Dabs are the second season of Babylon5 of resellers; a mixed start showing equal amounts of promise and shit, that's settling down into trying to be something good, but still has too much filler.
Aria are the Morrisons of resellers; they stock a little quality stuff at not the cheapest prices to get you interested, and then surround you with a lot of cheap goods of questionable quality.
eBuyer are the WAL-MART of resellers; they sell a lot of shit, you can't find what you want to buy, only what they want to sell you, they have no respect for the Reseller Chain, and they won't be happy until they're the only player.

CCL? Well, we're a bit like, er... Farscape? Humble, low-budget beginnings with a torturous first season, blossoming into something rather unique and special, but with lots of pain, heartache, loss and weirdness along the way.
