The Power to Move You
Jul. 1st, 2004 11:52 amSpent my first official night chez
stsquad. Upon reflection, I have concluded that yes, I can live in the box room. It may be small, but having packed my life into boxes I've realised that all I really need is a bed. I was disappointed at not being able to have my TV set up in my room, but it would probably have been a bit excessive. The wardrobe is filled with boiler, but it's blocked by the bed anyway, and all my hanging clothes are in Ilkley so it's not really an issue ... in fact I'm probably going to move all my clothes to Ilkley and take what I'll be wearing over to Manchester in a bag each weekend. It's that much more like living at home, but sacrifices have to be made. We'll have to see how bad the heat (from the boiler) gets.
I did exactly the same thing when I moved rooms at Mum's house. I was offered the spare room in the attic (for a number of reasons - my big sister was up there already, and I'd be able to redecorate to my taste, and we were planning to convert the third room into a "rec room" type thing, though this never happened), and jumped at the chance. Then my little sister talked about moving into my room, and made all sorts of plans about what she would do with it - it's a massive room, so she was going to get a sofa in and have parties and sleepovers and stuff (which she did). Naturally I changed my mind and wanted to stay. Then I changed my mind again, when sis started talking about how cozy it would be upstairs. I am amazed my family put up with me for so long. The problem is I'm basically convinced that whatever I have can't be as good as what somebody else has ... inferiority or envy, you decide.
EDIT: People are doing wonderful things with Flash these days. (MUSIC)

Date: 2004-07-01 03:59 am (UTC)On the other hand, the housing market is frightful at the moment (which is why I wasn't able to find anything in time), so finding a decent house at a good price may be a good few months away...
