Am trying to think of a general LRP cartoon strip for "Legend" magazine. My basic precondition is that it should be about LARPers rather than characters in a LARP, because the magazine covers all genres. Current nebulous ideas:

1) Setup: LARP widow (metaphorically) trying her best to get involved with husband/partner's hobby.
Potential: Analyse hobby from outside perspective, poke fun at selves and also mundanes. Much eye-rolling. Conflict = good comedy.
Possible title: "Married to the Monster" (weak)

2) Setup: Shared living space occupied by several LARPers with different interests - Vampire, Club, Fest, Sci-Fi, etc.
Potential: Comedy would probably be more specific and character-based than "aren't we silly". Could occasionally touch on differences between genres maybe.
Possible title: "Where LARP lives" or something oh God I don't know.

I think I'm favouring the second one. The "players" could have a character in each genre, and the strip would switch between IC and OOC ... it works in my head, I'm just not sure I could get it onto paper in any sort of cohesive format.

I go now for D&D. BYE BYE

You could combine the two or have a non-lrping house-member? In many houses of lrp you'll either find an other half who doesn't play or an ex lrper who doesn't play at all any more. It could be mainly based around idea 2 but the non-larper makes for another character who can appear to shake things up every so often.

Not that I know anything about cartoons but there you go.

Rather like Random Encounters, it helps to write what you know. Stick your own experience of larp and larpers in there (thinly disguised of course) and you'll be fine.

You could have a core of LRPer characters, and then occasional appearences by non-LRPers, like the LRP-widow, the baffled parents, the re-acurring dog walker.
