kingandySo we got my Mum's broadband working eventually. I rang the helpline and (after checking my IP) the man basically told me to remove everything and try installing it again. He did take some details regarding the box model and serial number first, so it's possible that he changed some settings at his end, but I'm unconvinced that that was 20 minutes well spent.
Car news: Had to visit the garage to get a puncture in my tyre repaired, and while I was there asked them to check on a worrying rattle (while parking) that had cropped up since they fitted the new exhaust midsection. The mechanic winched Raj up on his ramp, took a look underneath and decided that the exhaust was banging against the heatshield. He fixed this in a technical and precise manner, by which I mean he took a crowbar and hammered at the heatshield for about thirty seconds. This disturbed me slightly, but the rattle seems largely to have stopped.
Work news: Have been reminded not to surf web quite so much. Must try harder. Think I'm OK at the moment since I'm waiting for a database to upload in its entirety, which may take a while, but I should really make an effort over the next few weeks before I start taking time off...
Parting shot: Somebody has to turn up to Maelstrom dressed like this.
