I have 13 days' holiday to use between now and April. Anyone have any suggestions? Currently I'm thinking of just taking the first two weeks of March as a single block. If anyone else has any holidays to burn we could have larks! Possibly even adventures! However, I realise this is unlikely as most people have to plan their holidays from January to December.

In other news: Over the weekend I experimented with using Bennee.com to pick up my emails. I have more or less rejected it as a viable option. At first it seemed like a good idea since Alex's box is stable and less busy than ntlworld, which it probably is, but the difference is that while ntl may go down more, they at least have a staff dedicated to bringing it back up again. Alex's box only has Alex, and he can't be there 24/7. Also, being his own personal box, he has many security measures in place. This is very sensible, but the problem with making remote accessing difficult is that it also makes remote accessing difficult. So, I am going back to ntlworld for email.

What I want, ideally, is an email service whereby (1) it is stable, (2) I can collect my email via a client and (3) I can also (should I so choose) read it via the web. I have three email accounts, and each of them (easily) do two of the three. Such is life.

Of course if you where running a different OS it would be simple to do :-P

I can access (via my mail client) my email from both my boxen at home and work. I take it you never got the experimental manual port forwarding to work. If it did then automation is just a way of working out how make windows start things on boot up. I'm sure a local windows guru can tell you how.

You don't mentiont the important thing about the email - are you willing to pay for it?

I use http://www.netidentity.com for my mail - it offers all three of your wants, for (IIRC) about $20 a year. More if you want webspace.

I have March the 20th (ish) to march the 27th (ish) off.

Basically, it's the week tha falls after the 18th of march, with my 10% profit share and additional good boy bonus from work being paid into my account.
I do plan on doing some basic home improvements, but i also plan on spending bags of cash on fun things.
