A Number Of Things
Feb. 22nd, 2006 01:13 pmWendyhouse on Saturday. It was fun, but I wasn't as massively into it as perhaps I have been previously (I'm still not a huge clubbing person). Still, got quite drunk and got some tarting in, so not too bad. Was slightly self-conscious about protruding belly, which was not helped by having two big meals that day. (Belly varies from Quite Fit in the morning to A Bit Of A Lump in the evening. This may be mild anorexia nervosa on my part.) Much less shy about arms than previously. Note to self: Buy black vests, white ones draw attention.
For clarity: I am not dissatisfied with my body; I do not sit awake at night bemoaning that I am fat and ugly and nobody loves me. (Far too many people have advised otherwise for that to be an issue.) However, I am aware of the principle of accenting your best features and deemphasising your worst, and I was at one point of the opinion that my arms were spindly and not to be shown off. There are, it has been said, people who are allowed to wear the sleeveless tops and people who are emphatically not allowed, and I previously considered myself in the latter category. Nowadays, either through increased self-confidence or semi-regular workout, I am more confident that my pasty white shoulders are not entirely offensive to the eye. Sadly, while my stomach appears flat and enticing immediately after morning situps, by the evening (when filled with food) it appears full and rounded to my eyes. In a dark room full of dark people, wearing a white vest under UV lighting, I feel a constant need to hold the stomach in.
Sunday was filled mostly with being asleep and then watching STEAMBOY (aka "Suchîmubôi", pronounced "s'teeem-boyyy"), which is mad-cap steam-punk Victoriana. Worth watching if you have any interest in retro sci-fi, or indeed giant steam-powered juggernauts striding across London.
Monday was drawing and TV, Tuesday was the regular meal in Bolton. Weekdays are going to be busy for me from now on.
Tuesday: Meal.
Wednesday: Failsworth geek.
Thursday: Bolton gaming.
Friday: Sometimes free, sometimes taken up by travelling to events.
This leaves only Monday guaranteed free for drawing new comic strips. Am increasingly glad that I've only set myself a deadline of two strips a week. Must try and get further ahead at some point.
While sitting on the carpet in front of the fire last night,
ajon spotted me scratching my knee and mentioned I should be careful not to get fleas from the cat. As a result (of the warning, I think, not of actually having fleas) I now itch all over. Damn the woman. ♥
