Weirdness, according to wikipedia the voice of K9 was also the voice for Bungle in Rainbow....that's just odd you know.

So... is he going to be fitted with rocket jets (ala R2-D2) or will he float on a purple haze (ala new generation of Daleks)?

I'm hoping that he takes "five rounds rapid, metal dog on the left" from some sort of anti-tank weapon.

I don't think so, it looks like they're going with continuity rather than building a new one - this is the K9 that's been on Earth with Sarah Jane since 1981.

So he gets to face the challenges of slight ridges in the pavement. And he's stuffed if they ever end up in a quarry. Or on a beach.

Doubtless in the intervening 24 years, Sarah Jane now has a engineering PHD and has retro fitted K9 with stilts and a missile launcher.

In fairness, he was never stopped by terrain before - the prop wasbut not the character. They'd just have Tom Baker looking down out of shot, pretending to watch K9 move past him, and saying "good dog".

Besides, you can clearly see he has bigfoot wheels.
