Today I am housesitting, waiting for [livejournal.com profile] icklejo's skirting boards to be delivered. It is also my big sister's birthday. I have just lied to her on the phone, saying I forgot to post her present. I neglected to mention that I entirely failed to buy her one. I am a bad brother.

General reaction to the new icon has been negative; I will probably drop it. If only there was somebody who would take new and exciting pictures of me. PS I am free any time.

Annoyingly, Trillian (the only chat program installed on The Beast) doesn't seem to support multiple user profiles, though I'm not hammering it too hard in case I mess up any of [livejournal.com profile] icklejo's settings. This would be more annoying if the package hadn't just arrived. So, I'm now off into town to pick up a present of some kind for my sister.

Gifts!

I am back home from shopping.  I bought my sister a new gold-coloured edition of The Book Of Three, because I remembered she had the Chronicles of Prydain as a child (the editions with stills from the Disney movie of The Black Cauldron on the front).  Probably still has them, for all I know.  Oh well, it's bought now.

I also bought myself a new watch, because it looked like a space watch.

Tea with a bit of cinnamon is delish.

I am rethinking my stance on the special advance preview Doctor Who, given that I will be busy the weekend of its release.  The alternative is to record it (or ask somebody to record it for me on their Sky Plus for example).

But given it's sitting on a disk in my[1] house, and I'll be unable to watch it live ... the temptation is great.

Related news:  NEW SITE.  With teaser trailers featuring what would appear to be, shit me not, the  new TARDIS interior.

Additional: Outpost Gallifrey quotes a few press reviews of the first episode from the media. (Lacking anything resembling a permalink I'm forced to resort to this dodgy hack of their search system, which apparently has not yet been updated to reference the new style sheet). Reactions seem generally positive.

Additional additional: Continuing the story of the leak (looks like some naughty Canadians), the linked TV news report ("See scenes from the new Doctor Who") contains some actual footage from the series. It is exciting.

Okay, so I caved.

It's an excellent little production, the writing's solid, the effects are okay, and nobody can say the plot is inconsistent with established Who mythos (spoilers).  The Doctor is charming, energetic and clearly having a hoot.  The TARDIS sits somewhere between the TV and TV-Movie versions.  It is cool as all hell.

I can't wait to see the finished version, which will apparently have a remixed theme tune.  Huzzah!
