Friday was fun. When I eventually got to run through the system with my team leader (I think that's what he is, though he's never been introduced to me as such - we are a team, and he is leading us, so...) he did not, as I had feared, point out masses of missing functionality and suggestions for different ways to do it (which is good since it's due on Monday morning). Instead he said it was perfect, did exactly what it should do and actually did a couple of things better than the way he would have done it. This pleased me.

Then I went over to [livejournal.com profile] ghostbritain's house to play Orpheus, a game of ghosts and spirits. We were playing humans with the ability to project their souls from their bodies (in a variety of ways). My character Dane is an athlete daredevil rock musician. Alright, he's a bicycle messenger with a good singing voice. Which is handy since he's also a Banshee. He can blow shit up with his voice (in his spirit form). Though, annoyingly, that power is based on Manipulation+Empathy, rather than anything+Performance. Oh well, at least nobody can accuse me of powergaming.

Much fun was had by all, and much alcohol was imbibed. We kept hoisting our glasses (plastic cups) and shouting "Booze!" or "You've got a job!" (at [livejournal.com profile] ajon) or "Rarr!" I was drunk enough that I was still feeling rough the next day (not a headache as much as a dicky stomach), which rarely happens. Usually I spread it out a bit more, eat some food, and drink water before retiring for the night.

Hmm. While perusing the White Wolf site just now I noticed this Assamite Kukri Dagger. I am disappointed. There are a host of disclaimers ("Do not hurt yourself or others", "Not a toy", "Mind's Eye Theatre: NO WEAPONS") but really, I don't think it's going to do anything to nudge roleplaying towards being accepted by the general populace as a viable passtime enjoyed by normal people. It does look cool though.

We went into Bolton and I bought a new GBA game, since I had finished the D&D game that morning. The last few encounters of Eye of the Beholder are fun; one is a room full of about 16 Drow (at which poing my wizards let rip with their Ice Storm spells, splattering 80% of them instantly) and the final one is a Beholder and his two lesser-beholder cohorts. They were despatched reasonably quickly, with my mighty mages and well-hard warriors (doing two attacks per round each). I suspect the designers hadn't thought hard enough about updating the game to 3rd Ed rules, or possibly hadn't expected players to spend quite so long re-rolling to get good stats.

My new game is Advance Wars 2 and is jolly playable.

In other news:
Beware of the schoolgirls.

Addendum: The neighbours are screaming again. I will go into town and see if the army surplus stores are open on Sundays. If they aren't at least I won't be able to hear the screaming.

great news-story

If only the news had more stories like that I'd be inclined to tune in more often. :-)

If you're facing a bored Sunday, pop round to mine. Might be going to the Woodstock later for a pint. And our neighbours don't scream (or have an evil hell hound as a pet. And just generally aren't scallies...)

You're welcome for the badass schoolgirl link. Actually, my favorite ex (the only one I really like talking to) sent that to me.

I'd love to mess with AW2, but I have too much crap on my plate already. I somehow managed to outline a plot for a story and everything.
