Jul. 21st, 2004 09:10 amD&D=GOOD - we smashed dracolich again. Next week we face a hoard of rampaging Lizardmen. I will be playing the part of Legolas, at least until I run out of arrows.
ghostbritain appears to enjoy burning money. It is the height of summer and his central heating is still on full. Did you know you can tell it to just heat tapwater and not radiators, or just turn the radiators down? Crazy, man.
Raj's oil lamp is coming on occasionally. He probably wants some oil. Does a 2 litre engine require 2 litres of oil? This is something I do not know.

Date: 2004-07-21 01:33 am (UTC)Do you mean it says on the dipstick, or just put oil in until it says "Full"? I have never thought to look for inscriptions apart from the "Full" and "Empty" lines.
I wasn't planning to run car without oil! I just don't know how much to put in. Before I've just poured the whole bottle in but the thought occurs that this may be too much.

Date: 2004-07-21 01:55 am (UTC)>>Take out dipstick - see where oil is on metal stick's length. There will be a mark where the oil level should be.
>>Pour in a little oil (of type required by your car). Place dipstick back in and remove to check where oil now is.
>>Repeat as necessary until oils hits the required mark (it is usually a "range" so absolute precision is not required).
I used to feed oil to Ruby (my mini) all the time because I swear she was an oilaholic (boom! boom! - ok - I'm not a comedy genius). Anyhoo, if I can figure out how to do it - you can. Go Andy go!

Date: 2004-07-21 01:57 am (UTC)Car oil.
Date: 2004-07-21 02:02 am (UTC)If your oil lamp is going on when you driving, you should probably start by putting in half of a 5L bottle and top up from there. And indeed should probably stop at the nearest garage and do that before you go drive much further.
What make, model and engine size is Raj, you can easilly find the oil capacity on the internet.
Re: Car oil.
Date: 2004-07-21 02:10 am (UTC)It's not actually coming on while driving - just occasionally, for a second or two. Sometimes when starting, this morning when I braked sharply at the bottom of a hill (into the car park at work - there's a small dip at the bottom to channel the water and I didn't want to drop into it at full speed).
